This Cookies policy is a companion to our Privacy policy. It explains the small text files Veezon stores in your browser and the equivalent client-side storage we rely on to make the Platform work.
1. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They let a site recognise you across pages and return visits, remember preferences, keep you logged in, and understand how the site is used. Some cookies are set by us directly ("first-party"); others are set by services we embed, such as payment aggregators ("third-party"). Alongside cookies, modern browsers also expose localStorage and sessionStorage; we use these sparingly for the same purposes and treat them under this policy.
2. Types we use
| Category | Purpose | Examples on Veezon |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Required to run the Platform — you cannot opt out of these without breaking core functionality. | PHP session cookie (see below); CSRF token; login state; cart contents while checking out. |
| Functional | Remember preferences that make the Platform more useful. | Recently viewed products; followed stores; UI state (e.g. drawer open / closed). |
| Analytics | Understand how the Platform is used so we can improve it. | Aggregate product view counts, like counts, share counts. Used in engagement analytics for sellers. |
| Marketing | Only used where you explicitly opt in (e.g. WhatsApp notifications). | Attribution IDs when you click a Veezon marketing email or WhatsApp link. |
3. The Veezon session cookie
Veezon relies on a PHP session cookie to authenticate you across pages. It is configured to be as safe as we reasonably can:
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Name | PHPSESSID (default) or a namespaced variant |
| HTTP-only | Yes — not readable by JavaScript, mitigates XSS impact |
| SameSite | Strict — cookie is not sent on cross-site requests |
| Secure | Yes on HTTPS deployments |
| Lifetime | Approx. 2 hours of inactivity, then the session expires and you are logged out |
| Purpose | Keep you authenticated; carry CSRF token verification; maintain checkout flow state |
The seller-registration flow adds a small number of short-lived cookies (mobile OTP and email OTP verification state) which expire once verification completes.
4. Third-party cookies
We embed a small number of third-party services that may set their own cookies when you interact with them:
- Razorpay and UniquePay — only during checkout; used to complete card / UPI payment flows.
- Google Fonts — loads the Inter font family; may set a font-cache cookie depending on your browser.
- WhatsApp Business API — interactions happen off-Platform on WhatsApp; any cookies there are governed by WhatsApp / Meta.
Third-party cookies are governed by the respective third party's privacy and cookies policies.
5. Managing cookies
5.1 Browser controls
You can view, block, or delete cookies through your browser settings — typically under "Privacy" or "Site data". Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in or completing checkout. Popular browser guides:
- Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Safari — Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions
5.2 In-app controls
You can withdraw marketing consent (e.g. WhatsApp notifications, email newsletters) from your Veezon account settings at any time. We honour these preferences within a short buffer needed to update our send lists.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect new cookies or storage we adopt. Material changes are notified via email or in-app notice. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
